Essex:
On Monday May 4th at 8:30 p.m. an Essex OPP officer was conducting routine patrol on Fairview Ave. in Essex. The officer observed a green 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling westbound on Fairview Ave at a high rate of speed – 72 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone. The vehicle was stopped. The officer detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. The driver registered a “warn” on the roadside screening device (between 0.05 mgs and 0.08 mgs). He was issued a 3-day licence suspension of his licence and a ticket for speeding.
