On Tuesday March 2nd, 2010 Lakeshore OPP received a complaint of an unknown person looking to obtain banking information over the phone. Police advised that the person requested verification of a Visa card, when the complainant requested more information the person hung up.
Police are advising that you never give personal banking information over the phone to someone you don’t know. If someone calls looking to verify personal information get the person’s name and number who is requesting the information, and contact your banking institution directly.
