Weekend Occurrences – February 28th

Essex:

On Friday February 26th, 2010 Essex OPP responded to trouble with youths in the 30 block of King St. W in Harrow.  Police advised that two youths described as white, 16-20 yrs old, wearing blue jeans and black jackets, were seen checking inside motor vehicle’s and  door handles.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Essex County Criminal Investigations Unit or Crime Stoppers.

Kingsville:

On Sunday February 28th, 2010 around 3:00 am Kingsville OPP responded to several males drinking in the park in Kingsville.  Police advised that 2 males (23, 25) were drinking in the park and one was warned, one charged with consuming liquor in other than licenced premise.

Weekend Occurrences – February 27th

Essex:

On Friday February 26th, 2010 around 6:30 pm Essex OPP responded to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the 20 block of Talbot St. North in Essex.  Police advised that a 10 yr old boy was walking on the sidewalk, when he was hit by a truck making an illegal left hand  turn into a parking lot. The youth received minor injuries and was transported to Metropolitan Hospital, where he was released with no injuries.  The male driver 56 yrs from Kingsville was charged with disobey sign.

On Saturday February 27th, 2010 around 12:30 am Essex OPP conducted a R.I.D.E program on Talbot St in Essex.  Police checked 57 vehicles with 100% compliance.

Joint Forces Investigation of Ponzi Scheme

Windsor and Essex County:

The Ontario Provincial Police Essex County Criminal Investigations Unit in conjunction with Windsor Police Service Financial Crimes Branch arrested a Lakeshore male after a 3 month investigation.

A preliminary investigation revealed numerous victims in both the Windsor and Essex County area were conned out of large sums of money. The suspect promised victims an exorbitant return on non-existent investments, any funds paid back to the victims was from other victim’s money.

Overnight Occurrences

Essex:

On Monday February 22, 2010 around 12:30 pm Essex OPP responded to theft in the 10 block of Talbot Rd N. in Essex.  Police advised that the suspect entered the store on several occasions, tried on various items of clothing, and then left the store failing to pay for them. Police viewed surveillance tape at the business, and a female is seen on the tape holding items of clothing that were not paid for.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Essex OPP at 519-738-3796 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Seizure and Arrest

Tecumseh:

On Sunday February 21st, 2010 around 3:00 am Tecumseh OPP conducted a traffic stop on County Rd 42.  Police advised that a vehicle was travelling below the posted speed limit, and partially on the shoulder.

Overnight Occurrences – February 22nd

Essex:

On Sunday February 21st, 2010 around 9:30 am Essex OPP on general patrol observed a brown Ford F-150 southbound on County Rd 11.  Police advised that the truck was towing an un-plated F-150 with a 15 foot chain, which was loosely hanging with no other supports.  The Essex male (30) was charged with operate motor vehicle without insurance and improper means of attachment.    (more…)
