Essex County OPP Participates in law Enforcement Torch Run

Essex County:

On Tuesday May 18th, 2010 Essex County OPP will run through the four municipalities we police – Essex, Kingsville, Lakeshore and Tecumseh.

Police officers from across Essex County will be taking part in the event to raise funds for the Special Olympics.  Officers will visit each community and run for approximately 2- 3 km (20 minutes) at each location.

Criminal Behavior Causes OPP to Enforce Provincial Curfew

Essex County:

With the onset of warmer weather, Essex County OPP has seen a dramatic increase in criminal behaviour where it is suspected that the offences are being committed by teens. There has been an increase in the number of thefts from vehicles, damage to property by spray painting, burning or breaking.  No area of the County is devoid of being affected.

In an effort to curb this type of criminal behaviour, Essex County OPP are warning teens and parents alike that they will be enforcing the Provincial Curfew under authority of the Child and Family Services Act. (more…)

Summer Marine Student Job Opportunity

Essex County:

There is presently a posted job advertisement for three marine summer students.  While working with an Essex County OPP Marine Officer, the successful candidate will learn and gain exposure to the field of Law Enforcement through hands-on experience in our OPP marine program. The student will learn marine safety and related legislation, boat maintenance, prepare reports and interact with the public as a representative of the OPP. This position requires weekend and shift work.

50th Anniversary of the OPP Auxiliary Program

On Wednesday April 14th, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Essex Civic Centre in Essex the Essex County OPP Auxiliary was presented with a plaque by Inspector Tony Cristilli for their dedication and accomplishment of volunteering over 11,000 hours in 2009. The Essex County OPP Auxiliary Unit is the largest within the OPP with 38 members.
